Description

In the Battle of the Halji, you'll take on the role of a monstrous intelligent life-form, determined to uproot and destroy your rival Halji who have invaded nearby territories. But as a plant-based creature, you can't attack them directly - instead, you'll have to recruit Cretoids, the animal life of this world, to do your bidding. These creatures will have to brave the deadly terrain, navigating through the Bogs, Slime, Tangle, Skringle, and Dust, each with its own unique dangers, from carnivorous plants to poisonous gas. As your Cretoids embark on their perilous journey, they'll pick up diseases and infections along the way, making their task even more challenging. But they have a secret weapon - they can cast magic to aid them in their quest. However, using magic comes with a cost, and it will only add to the diseases and afflictions your Cretoids must endure. The ultimate goal is to get your Cretoids to reach the feet of a rival Halji, where they'll be detonated, taking out the adjacent feet and bringing you one step closer to victory. With 2 to 6 players competing against each other, the game can get pretty intense, and with a playtime of 180 minutes, you'll need to be strategic and cunning to emerge as the last Halji standing. Designed by Jake Thornton and Chris Hunt, and first published in 1987, the Battle of the Halji is a game that combines elements of science fiction, horror, and humor, set on a challenging hexagon grid. The game rules are of normal complexity, making it accessible to anyone familiar with board games. With its unique blend of exploration, magic, and creature management, the Battle of the Halji is a thrilling and unpredictable experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Will you be the last Halji remaining, exalting in your triumph over the others, or will you succumb to the dangers of this unforgiving world? There's only one way to find out.
