Description

Override is a deceptively simple abstract strategy game for two players that packs a punch in terms of depth and excitement. The goal is straightforward: get five of your colored pyramids in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, and you win. But here's the twist - you have the power to control not just your own pieces, but your opponent's as well. Each turn, you can choose to bring one of your pyramids onto the board, move one of your existing pieces, or take control of one of your opponent's pieces and move it to a new location. This unique mechanic adds a layer of strategy and unpredictability to the game, as you try to outmaneuver your opponent and create a winning line. The game starts with all 30 pyramids off the board, and players take turns introducing new pieces or moving existing ones around the 5x5 grid. Larger pyramids can cover up smaller ones, but same-size stacking is not allowed, adding an extra layer of complexity to the game. As the game progresses, the board can become increasingly crowded, with pyramids of both colors vying for position. But don't worry if one of your pieces gets blocked in - you can always use your opponent's pieces to your advantage, or try to create a new opportunity by introducing a new pyramid to the board. With a playtime of just 1 to 15 minutes, Override is the perfect game for a quick showdown with a friend or family member. Despite its simple rules, Override is a game that requires strategic thinking and forward planning. As you navigate the grid and try to outmaneuver your opponent, you'll need to think carefully about which pieces to move, and when to take control of your opponent's pyramids. With its unique blend of strategy and unpredictability, Override is a game that will keep you coming back for more. Designed by Kat Costa and first released in 2019, Override is a must-play for fans of abstract strategy games and anyone looking for a fun and challenging experience.
