Description

Get ready to embark on an epic adventure in ancient times with Purim, a cooperative game designed by Philip duBarry and Giovanni Spadaro, released in 2023. In this thrilling experience, you'll take on the role of a loyal messenger of the King and Queen, tasked with spreading peace and harmony throughout the empire. But be warned, the evil forces of Haman's ten sons are working against you, seeking to destroy the Jewish people with their false messages. You'll need to work together with your fellow messengers to outsmart them and secure victory. As a game of normal complexity, Purim is easy to learn for anyone familiar with board games, and it supports 1 to 4 players, making it a great experience to share with friends and family. Each round, you'll receive a set of Action Cards, which will determine the fate of the empire. You'll simultaneously select one card from your hand, revealing your chosen action, and then process the effects in a specific order. The goal is to spread the King's proclamation, represented by gold cubes, to all provinces, while preventing the spread of false messages, represented by black cubes. With a playtime of 45 to 60 minutes, you'll be fully immersed in the world of Purim, navigating the delicate balance between light and darkness. The game's mechanics, including area majority, influence, and simultaneous action selection, will keep you on the edge of your seat as you navigate the intricate web of actions and reactions. As the game unfolds, the Calendar tile will move forward, and the stakes will rise. The game will end when the Calendar tile reaches its final destination, or when the gold or black cubes run out. If you've successfully spread the King's message, and each province has more gold cubes than black ones, you'll emerge victorious. But if even one province falls to darkness, you'll lose the game. With its rich theme, engaging gameplay, and cooperative spirit, Purim is an unforgettable experience that will leave you eager for more.
