Description

Get ready to dive into the world of politics with Consensus, a game that's been around since 1966. Designed by John Reed Koza, this game is all about strategic campaigning and outmaneuvering your opponents. With simple rules that can be explained quickly, 2 to 4 players can jump into a game that typically lasts around 75 minutes. The game takes place on a map of the United States, where each state has its own electoral votes, demographics, and requirements for capture. Players take turns plotting their campaigns, and when everyone has made their moves, the campaigning begins - simultaneously, and with a twist. If multiple players have planned the same campaign in a state, they cancel each other out. The game is won by accumulating electoral votes, with the majority of votes in certain demographics giving players an extra boost. The game continues until a player reaches 270 electoral votes, or until a target number of turns have been played. If no one has reached the winning threshold, players are eliminated and their votes redistributed until someone emerges victorious. With its unique blend of simultaneous action selection, action points, and paper-and-pencil gameplay, Consensus offers a fun and challenging experience for fans of political games.
