Description

1918: Storm in the West is a gripping two-player wargame that drops you into the midst of World War I's final nine months on the Western front. As the military high command of your nation or Alliance, you'll navigate the challenges of war, making strategic decisions that will determine the outcome of the conflict. The game starts with the German player on the offense, using their Stosstruppen-led forces to try and gain ground, or even knock the Allies out of the war. But as the game progresses, the German player must transition to a strong defense, trying to contain the enemy counteroffensive. As the Allied player, your task is to hold firm against the initial German onslaught, and then launch a counterattack to push them back and break their will to fight. With a playtime of around 240 minutes, 1918: Storm in the West is a game that requires strategy and skill, but is still accessible to players familiar with board games. The game's normal complexity rules and mechanics, including dice rolling and a hexagon grid, add depth and realism to the gameplay experience. Designed by Ted Raicer and originally published in 1992, this game is a classic wargame that will challenge and engage you, putting you in the shoes of a military commander during one of history's most pivotal conflicts.
