Description
Battle for Basra is a classic board game that drops you into the midst of a hypothetical attack in and around Basra, Iraq during the First Gulf War. Designed by Frank Chadwick and Lester Smith, this 1991 game is easy to learn and plays out in just 30 minutes, making it a great introduction to the world of wargames. As one of two players, you'll take on the role of either the U.S. 24th Mechanized Division or the Iraqi Republican Guard, each with its own unique challenges and objectives. The game is all about strategy and quick thinking, as you navigate the hexagon grid and use dice rolling and movement points to outmaneuver your opponent. With a small map and fewer than 50 counters, the gameplay is straightforward but still packed with excitement. The U.S. player must exit seven out of their initial ten units from the east edge of the map within six turns, while the Iraqi player will stop at nothing to prevent this from happening. With its simple yet engaging gameplay, Battle for Basra is a great way to experience the thrill of modern warfare and simulation gaming, and its short playtime makes it easy to fit in a game whenever you want.
