Description

In the fantasy world of Guardians, 2 to 4 players embark on a thrilling adventure, each starting with a powerful creature known as a Guardian, which boasts special abilities. The game is set up with a unique board composed of stronghold cards and terrain cards, creating a dynamic battlefield. Players can place creatures under shields to keep them hidden, allowing them to move strategically around the board. However, there's a limit to the number of creatures that can be shielded, preventing players from building an overwhelming army. As players' armies clash, the game's secret unit deployment mechanic comes into play, making for intense and unpredictable battles. Combat is a detailed process, with players secretly choosing creatures to engage in battle, using various modifiers to determine the outcome. The objective is to control all six lands between the strongholds, destroy five of the opponent's shields, or eliminate the opposing Guardian. With its normal complexity and 45-minute playtime, Guardians is an engaging game that's easy to learn for fans of board games and card games alike. Designed by Luke Peterschmidt and first published in 1995, Guardians has stood the test of time, offering a unique blend of strategy and fantasy elements that's sure to captivate players.
