Description

Mersa Matruh is a World War II wargame that drops you into the intense battles of North Africa in 1942. With two players taking on the roles of the Panzer Army Africa and the British 8th Army, you'll be immersed in a thrilling 90-minute game of strategy and skill. The rules are easy to learn, making it accessible to new players, but the game itself is full of depth and complexity, thanks to its dice rolling and hexagon grid mechanics. As you navigate the map, representing the coastal Egyptian port of Mersa Matruh, you'll be tasked with either stopping the 8th Army's retreat and destroying their units, or slipping away from your pursuers and regrouping at El Alamein to halt the Axis forces' advance. With units representing regiments, brigades, and battalions, and a map scale of 4.8 kilometers per hex, every decision counts. The game comes with a range of components, including a full-color map, mounted color counters, and rule book, all packaged in a convenient ziplock bag. Designed by Chris Harding and first published in 2005, Mersa Matruh is a classic wargame that's sure to challenge and engage you, whether you're a seasoned gamer or just starting out.
