Description

In the world of Catalyst, a new type of catalytic energy has been discovered, and with it, a group of special individuals known as Catalysts who can harness its power. As one of these Catalysts, you'll work to build a network of powerful abilities to lead your city to fame and fortune. This easy-to-learn game is all about engine-building and creating combos, as you carefully build up your chain of actions and then unleash them all at once. With a playtime of just 20 to 40 minutes, Catalyst is a quick and exciting game that's perfect for 2 to 4 players. As you play, you'll choose from three actions on your turn: taking coins, recruiting a Catalyst card, or activating one of your recruited Catalysts to perform its effect. These effects can provide bonuses and actions like gaining extra coins, building new buildings, or obtaining military power tokens. The goal is to score the most victory points, which can be achieved by building specific buildings, activating Catalyst cards, and gaining majorities in military power tokens. With a random Goal card revealed at the beginning of the game, you'll need to adapt your strategy to maximize your points. Published in 2018, Catalyst is a base game that's designed to be simple yet deep, making it a great choice for gamers of all experience levels.
