Description

Ortona is a wargame that drops you into the intense battle for the Italian city of Ortona in December 1943. As one of two players, you'll take on the role of either the Allied forces or the Germans, each with their own unique challenges. The Allies must attack two heavily fortified positions, while the Germans must conserve their small force and time their retreats and counterattacks carefully. With company-sized units and a hex grid representing 170 meters of terrain, Ortona offers a detailed and immersive operational game experience. Turns are one day long, allowing you to plan and execute your strategy over the course of 10 grueling days of battle. Designed by Stephen Newberg and first published in 1983, Ortona is a classic game of World War II strategy that's easy to learn but challenging to master, making it a great choice for fans of wargames and history.
