Description

Red Poppies: WWI Tactics is a game that drops you right into the trenches of World War I, where you'll be making tactical decisions as the commander of regimental-sized engagements. With a playtime of 60 to 90 minutes, you'll have plenty of time to get immersed in the action, and the easy-to-learn rules mean you can dive right in. Designed by John Gorkowski and first published in 2010, this game is all about the command and control trade-offs that characterized WWI battles, with company-level units and 10-minute turns on a map scaled at 200 yards per hex. As you play, you'll be using a hexagon grid to maneuver your units, which can include tanks, cavalry, and machine guns, and you'll need to navigate obstacles like barbed wire and artillery support. The game covers small unit tactics, which is a unique aspect of Red Poppies, and scenarios will take you through the entire conflict on the western front, with battles involving German, French, Belgian, and British forces. Whether you're storming La Boiselle or launching a tank assault, every scenario will challenge you to think strategically and make the most of your units and resources. With its unique blend of tactics and historical accuracy, Red Poppies is a must-play for fans of wargames and World War I history.
