Description

Constantinople is a solitaire wargame that drops you into the midst of the Byzantine Empire's most tumultuous era, where you'll control the fate of the great City of Constantinople and its allies. As the player, you'll take on the challenge of defending against relentless barbarian forces, from the Caliphates of Egypt, Syria, and Mosul to the Khazar Khanate, Bulgar Kingdom, Slavic Tribes, and Lombard Kingdom. Your goal is to defeat these invaders while expanding the Byzantine Empire's power and influence. With each turn representing a campaign season, you'll need to strategically manage your ground units, which represent anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 soldiers or warriors, as they navigate the vast hexagonal grid, where each hex spans about 55 miles. The game's designers, Joseph Miranda and Nadir Elfarra, have crafted a rich and immersive experience, with a large 22" x 34" map and 176 counters that bring the medieval world to life. As you play through the game, you'll feel like you're in the midst of a real historical campaign, with the fate of Constantinople hanging in the balance. With its normal complexity level, Constantinople is accessible to anyone familiar with board games, making it an excellent choice for fans of solo wargames and medieval history. Published in 2019, this base game is a must-play for anyone looking for a challenging and engaging solo experience.
