Description

In Masquerade, a Japanese fantasy card game, 3 to 5 players take on the roles of powerful entities vying for control of a fantasy world. Each player dons a secret mask, complete with hidden victory point bonuses, and sends out a dancer to fulfill various functions at different adventure-filled stages. With a unique blend of hand management, card drafting, and role-playing, players must accumulate spell cards, heal, trigger events, and battle monsters and each other to emerge victorious. The game's musical twist, with spell cards like Nocturne and Fugue, adds a touch of whimsy to the chaos of variable dancer powers and card effects. Despite the relatively low luck factor, the game remains unpredictable and exciting, with multiple strategies available to players. With easy-to-learn rules and a playtime of 90 minutes, Masquerade is an engaging and entertaining experience designed by Satoshi Nakamura and first published in 2003.
