Description

In Sparta, a strategic game set in ancient times, you'll experience the thrill of battle as a skilled Spartan or Achaean warrior. The game is easy to learn, making it accessible to new players, and can be played in just 30 minutes. Each player starts with a row of eight fighters on a 10x10 grid, with eight cities in the middle rows, four of which are owned by each player. As you move your fighters up to two squares in any direction, you'll aim to conquer opposing cities, promote your fighters to heroes, and capture trapped pieces. The game ends when one player owns all cities, or when a player has only one piece left on the board. With its simple rules and grid movement mechanics, Sparta is a fun and engaging abstract strategy game for two players, designed by Yannick Holtkamp and published in 2011.
