Description

Silent War is a solitaire wargame simulation of the United States' submarine war against Imperial Japan during World War II. Players take on the role of Commander Submarines, US Pacific Fleet, deploying submarines to attack the Japanese Navy. The game offers tremendous flexibility, with playtime ranging from 10 minutes for a single submarine patrol to 10 or more hours for full campaigns. The game features a large map of the Pacific Theater, easy-to-use graphic charts, and detailed submarine counters. Players can recreate famous patrols or entire campaigns, with special rules for torpedo improvements, wolfpacks, and more. With its normal complexity and moderate in-game text, Silent War is accessible to experienced board game players. Published in 2005, this game challenges players to outperform historical submarine commanders and sink more ships and tonnage than their American counterparts.
