Description
In Mana, a classic abstract strategy game from 1988, two players engage in a battle of wits to capture their opponent's Daïmio. Designed by Claude Leroy, this easy-to-learn game is perfect for children and adults alike, with playtime ranging from 10 to 30 minutes. The game takes place on a 6x6 grid, where each player starts with six pieces, including one Daïmio and five ronin, which can move orthogonally in any direction, making 90º turns if desired. The twist in Mana comes with the introduction of the neutral mana bird, which is placed on a square with the same number of markings as the square where a piece lands. This mechanic forces players to think strategically about their moves, as they must navigate the board to capture their opponent's pieces while also positioning themselves to capture the Daïmio. With its simple yet engaging gameplay, Mana is a great introduction to abstract strategy games, and its short playtime makes it an excellent addition to any game collection.
