Description

Operation Jubilee: Dieppe, August 1942 is a solitaire wargame that puts you in the midst of one of the most disastrous raids of World War II. As the commander of the Commonwealth forces, you'll lead a mixed force of Canadian troops and tanks and British Commandos in an assault on the German-held French port of Dieppe. The game uses a simplified version of the D-Day at Omaha Beach system, with a large-hex map that spans 16 miles of coastline, divided into four key areas: Blue Beach, Dieppe town, Green Beach, and the Rear. With 176 large-size NATO-style counters at your disposal, you'll need to navigate the challenges of coastal battery fire, random events, and unit depth to achieve your objectives. As you play through the game, which typically takes around 3 to 4 hours to complete, you'll experience the intense German resistance that ultimately led to the failure of the real-life raid. The game's rules cover a range of topics, including amphibious warfare, command-control and communication, and air attack, making for a immersive and challenging experience. With a normal level of complexity, the game is accessible to anyone familiar with board games, and the solo design means you can enjoy it on your own. Designed by John H. Butterfield and first published in 2010, Operation Jubilee: Dieppe, August 1942 is a gripping and thought-provoking wargame that's sure to appeal to fans of World War II history and strategy.
