Description
In Gùgōng, you'll take on the role of a powerful Chinese family vying for influence and power in 16th century China. The game is set during the Ming Dynasty, a time of great turmoil and corruption, where the highest Officials would accept gifts from petitioners and return ones of seemingly lower value. Players must navigate this intricate system by exchanging gifts with Officials, making strategic choices about which actions to take each turn. As you travel around China, you'll sail down the Grand Canal, purchase precious jade, and help construct the Great Wall, all while trying to secure advantages and influence the game through intrigue. Your goal is to receive an audience with the emperor, and if you succeed, you'll win the game, or at least earn the most victory points among successful players. With its unique blend of area majority, hand management, and set collection mechanics, Gùgōng offers a fun and challenging experience for 1 to 5 players.
