Description
In Kaigan, 3 to 4 players take on the role of teams of surveyors competing to map the coast of Japan, inspired by the real-life journey of Tadataka Ino who spent 21 years creating the first scale map of Japan's coast. Players generate income by improving their artistic skills and developing relationships with local governments, which they use to dispatch their surveyors around the island. As players travel and map different regions, they earn honor and the player who contributes the most to mapping Japan after 5 rounds wins the game. With a playtime of 90 minutes and normal complexity rules, Kaigan is an engaging game that's easy to learn for fans of board games. Published in 2009 and designed by Peke and Kenichi Tanabe, Kaigan offers a unique blend of action points, area majority, and hand management mechanics that will keep you on the edge of your seat as you compete to be the first to fully map Japan's coast.
