Description

Behold: Rome is a solo civilization-building card game that lets you build and develop your own ancient civilization without needing a table. As the game designer Joe Klipfel's 2024 release, it offers a unique blend of deck, bag, and pool building, hand management, and multi-use cards that will keep you engaged for about 60 minutes. With normal complexity rules, it's easy for board game enthusiasts to dive right in and start playing. Your goal is to outsmart and outscore your rival civ by orienting your deck for maximal scoring, upgrading your nation card, and conquering the wealthiest regions by the end of round 12. As you play, you'll store and spend resources like materials and population to take actions, upgrade cards, and conquer regions that boost your production engine. Your nation card has four levels, each with a powerful and unique scoring ability, letting you progress from a monarchy to a republic, empire, and even a theocracy. With every turn, you'll need to strategically decide which actions to take, which regions to conquer or abandon, and how to develop your nation to gain valuable tributaries and solidify your place in history. With its unique mechanics and engaging gameplay, Behold: Rome is a thrilling adventure that challenges you to build a thriving ancient civilization and make your mark on history.
