Description

In the hilarious and action-packed board game DetoNations, countries are in a crazy rush to be the first to successfully test a nuke, because who doesn't want to prove their superiority, right. Designed by Nathan Lusk and published in 2023, this game is all about sifting through junk piles to find the parts you need to build your very own nuclear missile. Players take on the roles of various quirky countries in a fictional world, and with 2 to 6 players, it's a party. The game is easy to learn, so don't worry if you're new to board games, and with a playtime of 30 to 70 minutes, you can fit it into even the busiest of schedules. As you play, you'll draw Junk cards, hoping to find the right combination to trade in for the parts you need to build your nuke. Each country has its own set number, so you'll need to collect 2 or 3 specific cards to get a new piece of your nuke. The twist is that you can trade in your cards for a new piece of your nuke as soon as you get them, even if it's not an upgrade. This means you'll need to strategize and make some tough decisions, all while laughing at the absurdity of it all. The game mechanics, which include dice rolling, racing, set collection, and variable player powers, all come together to create a thrilling experience. And with categories like humor and modern warfare, you know it's going to be a wild ride. When you finally get all 6 parts of your nuke, it's time to test it out. This is where things can get really exciting, or really disastrous. Each piece of your nuke has a corresponding die, ranging from a 4-sided die to a 20-sided die, and if you fail, the part is destroyed and you'll have to start all over again. But if you succeed, you'll be the first country to successfully test a nuke, and you'll win the game. With its unique blend of strategy, luck, and humor, DetoNations is a game that's sure to entertain.
