Description
A Gleam of Bayonets: The Battle of Antietam is a detailed and immersive board game that recreates the bloodiest day in American history. Published in 1983 and designed by Richard H. Berg, this game is a regimental-level simulation of the Battle of Antietam, with each hex covering 120 yards and each strength point representing 50 men or 1 artillery gun. The game's complexity and depth make it a challenging and rewarding experience for 2 to 6 players. As players take on the roles of historical commanders, they'll navigate the orchards, corn and wheat fields, and the infamous 'Bloody Lane', using colorful counters and simple probability charts to determine the outcome of each confrontation. With a playtime of 420 to 4200 minutes, this game is not for the faint of heart, but for those willing to invest the time, A Gleam of Bayonets offers a unique and thrilling experience that brings the American Civil War to life.
