Description
Althingi: One Will Rise is a gripping board game that drops you into the midst of Viking-Age Iceland, where powerful Chieftains gather to vie for control of the annual Althingi. As one of these Chieftains, you'll need to use every trick in the book to come out on top, from bribery and coercion to intimidation and strategic maneuvering. With two to four players, the game is perfect for a group of friends or family members who aren't afraid to get a little ruthless in their pursuit of power. The game is divided into days, each with three rounds: Morning, Afternoon, and Evening. In the morning, you'll gather Loot, which can be used to bribe new Vikings to join your camp or to equip them for battle. The afternoon is all about strategic bribery, as you try to lure new Vikings to your side while keeping enough resources on hand to defend yourself in the evening. And when night falls, it's time to put your Vikings to the test in holmgang, or duels, against rival camps. The goal is to gain the most influence, which you can do by recruiting Vikings to your cause and emerging victorious from these fierce battles. With its easy-to-learn rules and playtime of just 25 to 45 minutes, Althingi: One Will Rise is a game that's easy to dive into, even if you're new to board games. The game's mechanics, including auction, betting and bluffing, bribery, and hand management, add a rich layer of complexity and strategy to the gameplay. And with its gritty, raw aesthetic and attention to historical detail, you'll feel like you're right there in the midst of Viking-Age Iceland, fighting for dominance and survival. So gather your friends, get ready to make some ruthless deals, and see who will rise to the top in Althingi: One Will Rise.
