Description

In Astrum, you'll embark on a journey through the medieval world of astronomy, becoming stargazers tasked with creating an atlas of the starry sky for the enlightened King Alfonso X. This game, designed by Ivan Tuzovsky and published in 2025, is a fascinating blend of abstract strategy, medieval history, and puzzle-solving. With simple rules that can be explained quickly, Astrum is perfect for 2 to 4 players looking for a fun and engaging experience that can be completed in just 30 to 45 minutes. As you start the game, you'll be given a personal playing board divided into four colored sectors, each corresponding to a stack of constellation figures. Your goal is to fill your board with these figures, satisfying the requirements of King Alfonso. The twist is that when you place a figure on one of the colored sectors, you determine the color of the figure the next player will take, but they're free to place it anywhere on their board. Each figure combines several bright stars and has external connections, allowing you to continue building constellations. When you complete a constellation, you'll earn victory points based on the number of bright stars it contains. As you progress through the game, King Alfonso will pay visits to check your work, and you'll need to meet the conditions specified on the King's vagaries cards to earn victory points. With its unique blend of drafting and tile placement mechanics, Astrum offers a challenging and entertaining experience that's full of surprises. Whether you're a fan of medieval history, astronomy, or just love a good puzzle, Astrum is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a fun and engaging board game experience. So gather your friends, get ready to explore the starry sky, and see who will become the most renowned stargazer in the kingdom.
