Description

Centurion is a game of strategic maneuvering and clever tile placement, designed by Bryn K. Bills and published in 2023. In this abstract strategy game, two players face off against each other, each starting with their Centurion and two Legionnaires on the board. The game is won by defending your own troops while positioning yourself to capture your opponent's key pieces, and with a playtime of just 15 to 25 minutes, you can dive into a thrilling battle in no time. The heart of Centurion lies in its innovative double-sided Profile System tiles, which represent different postures and abilities for each piece. At the start of your turn, you can choose to draw a new tile from the bag or move one already in play, and each tile has a unique set of options for movement and attack. The clever twist is that each tile has two sides, with a different profile on each, and you flip the tile to its other side at the end of your turn. This means that each piece can have multiple roles to play, and you'll need to think carefully about which tiles to play and when to flip them to outmaneuver your opponent. With thirteen different double-sided Soldier tiles and nineteen total pieces for each player, every game of Centurion is unique and presents new challenges and opportunities for strategy. You can play with the same set of tiles each time, or mix things up by choosing to play asymmetrically with different armies, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. The variety of play is almost limitless, making Centurion a game that you'll want to come back to again and again to test your skills and try out new tactics. Whether you're a seasoned board game veteran or just looking for a fun and challenging game to play with a friend, Centurion is an excellent choice, with a level of complexity that's easy to learn but still offers plenty of depth and strategy.
