Description
In De Vulgari Eloquentia: Deluxe Edition, players are transported to medieval Italy, where the emergence of a new language, Volgare, is underway. This game, designed by Mario Papini, challenges 2 to 5 players to navigate the complexities of this linguistic and cultural shift. As players take on various roles, such as merchants, friars, or cardinals, they must collect knowledge, uncover secrets, and improve their social status to earn Volgare points. With a playtime of 90 to 120 minutes, players will need to strategically manage their actions, using mechanisms like action points, set collection, and track movement to outmaneuver their opponents. The game's complicated rules may take some time to learn, but the reward is a rich and immersive experience that explores the intersection of language, culture, and power in medieval Italy. Will you become a famous banker, a respected monk, or even the next Pope, earning the most Volgare points and respect among your peers?
