Description
Welcome to Doomtown, a rootin'-tootin' good time set in the Wild West, but not just any Wild West - the Weird West. This is a place where cowboys and outlaws wield guns, steampunk gadgets, and spells, and death is just a minor setback. In the town of Deadwood, South Dakota, a fragile treaty is held together by Eagle Woman, while various factions like the Anarchists and Entrepreneurs vie for control. With characters like Bass Reeves, the West's most persistent Marshal, and Jessica Patchett, a notorious outlaw trying to escape her past, the stage is set for a showdown. In Doomtown: Weird West Edition, you'll build your deck around one of six main groups, or Outfits, each trying to gain control of Deadwood. The game is driven by a poker mechanism, where every card has a suit and value, and preparing for the hands you want to draw is just as important as choosing your actions. Combat is resolved through poker hands, with the lowest hand going first, and players take individual turns hiring new dudes, purchasing deeds, shopping for gear, or starting shootouts to remove opponents' influence. The goal is to have more control in town than anyone else has influence, and when that happens, you win. With one to six players, a playtime of 30 to 60 minutes, and a bit of a learning curve, Doomtown: Weird West Edition is a game that's perfect for those who enjoy a mix of strategy, poker, and Wild West action. While it may take some time to learn the rules, the game's unique mechanics, such as area majority, betting, and hand management, make for a thrilling experience. And with a range of expandable content, including expansions like There Comes a Reckoning and Out For Blood, you'll never run out of new ways to play and challenges to overcome in the Weird West. So saddle up and get ready to take on the town in Doomtown: Weird West Edition.
