Description
Dunkirk: France 1940 throws you straight into the chaos of the 1940 French campaign, where you and a buddy (or you solo) get to command the desperate scramble of Allied forces trying to escape the German onslaught. Designed by Doug Bryant, this 2018 wargame mixes a slick card‑driven battle system with a chit‑pull mechanic that makes every turn feel like a tense radio dispatch from the front lines. You’ll draw cards that set up historic engagements, then pull chits to see which units get the spotlight—sometimes you’ll be orchestrating a daring river crossing, other times you’ll be digging in for a gritty defensive fight. With about two to three hours of play, the rules sit at a comfortable “normal” level, so seasoned gamers will pick them up fast, but the depth of the simulation keeps things fresh. It’s a perfect blend of history, strategy, and that gut‑punch feeling of trying to keep a battered army alive long enough to make it to the beaches.
