Description

Extractor is a thought-provoking board game that delves into the world of global data-driven businesses and their impact on the planet. Designed by Simon Denny, this game is a dystopian take on the classic Australian sheep-farming game 'Squatter', where players compete for world domination by accumulating data and extracting value from the earth and its population. The game's simple rules make it easy to learn and play, allowing 2 to 6 players to engage in a highly competitive scramble for data domination. In Extractor, players experience the dynamics of the data mining world, navigating the consequences of aggressively extractive business practices on the environment and society. As a playable artwork, Extractor was produced in a limited edition of 1000 copies to accompany Simon Denny's exhibition MINE at the Museum of Old and New Art in 2019. By playing Extractor, you'll gain insight into the world of data-driven businesses and the effects of their pursuits, all while enjoying a fun and competitive game with friends. With its unique blend of economic and environmental themes, Extractor offers a fascinating gaming experience that will leave you thinking long after the game is over.
