Description

Genius Loci is a strategic and engaging board game designed for two players, where you'll embark on a 30-minute journey of grid movement and abstract strategy. The game's title, which translates to the spirit of a place, is inspired by Roman mythology, and this theme is cleverly woven into the gameplay. With easy-to-learn rules, you'll quickly find yourself immersed in the world of Genius Loci, where movement between places is facilitated by the spirits, or gods, on the board. As you play, you'll navigate a hexagonal board, using your men and the neutral gods to outmaneuver your opponent. Each turn consists of a delicate balance of movement and sacrifice, as you strategically decide which pieces to move and capture. The game's designer, Stephen Tavener, has crafted a unique and challenging experience that requires careful planning and execution. With its simple yet engaging mechanics, Genius Loci is an excellent choice for fans of abstract strategy games, and its short playtime makes it an ideal addition to any game night. Published in 2013, Genius Loci has established itself as a thought-provoking and entertaining game that will keep you coming back for more.
