Description
In Heirs of the Wizard King, you're one of a select few chosen by the Wizard King to be his potential successors, but things take a dark turn when a Black Wizard murders the king and starts an evil ritual. With the Wizard King gone, it's up to you to complete your training and stop the Black Wizard before it's too late. The stakes are high, as the ritual could destroy the current way of life and someone less worthy might rise to the throne before you can. As you play, you'll be collecting and mastering different spells by commanding or absorbing the powers of various Wizards. Each color of Wizard has a unique type of spell that you can choose to use once or absorb for permanent use, albeit in a reduced form. As you absorb more powers, you can invest in and eventually master them, giving you a powerful edge in your quest to defeat the Black Wizard. To do so, you'll need to forge Chains of Wizards by matching combinations of color and number, a task that gets progressively harder as each Chain requires one more card than the last. The first player to reach the top of the score track will be crowned the next Wizard King. The game is semi-cooperative, meaning you'll need to work together with your fellow players to stop the Black Wizard's ritual, but in the end, only one of you can emerge victorious. The Black Wizard's Chain is dealt a card on every player's turn, and if the deck runs out of cards, the Black Wizard advances on his score track, putting even more pressure on you to succeed. With easy-to-learn rules and a playtime of just 30 minutes, Heirs of the Wizard King is a fast-paced and exciting game for 1 to 4 players. Designed by Jonathan Politis and first published in 2018, it's a thrilling challenge that combines hand management, set collection, and take-that mechanics in a fantasy medieval setting, making it a must-play for fans of card games and strategic gameplay.
