Description
In Laniakea, you'll embark on a strategic journey across a modular board, navigating a grid of sandy spaces and turtles. As one of the two players, your goal is to move your colored tokens from your starting zone to your opponent's, without disturbing the turtles that keep moving and potentially disrupting your plans. The game, designed by Marco Teubner and published in 2022, offers a unique blend of grid movement, map deformation, and slide/push mechanics that will keep you on your toes. As you take turns moving your tokens and sliding new tiles into the board, you'll need to think carefully about your next steps. With the ability to stack tokens up to three high, you can create powerful movements that allow you to jump over turtles and get closer to your opponent's starting zone. But be careful, as the turtles can eject your tokens back to the starting zone, setting you back. The first player to get five of their tokens to the opponent's side wins, making for a thrilling and competitive experience that lasts around 30 to 40 minutes. With its normal complexity and abstract strategy, Laniakea is perfect for board game enthusiasts looking for a fun and challenging experience.
