Description
In Last Aurora: Project Athena, you're part of a desperate journey to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where a powerful artificial intelligence, Athena, has brought human civilization to its knees. The story goes that Athena, the first sentient AI, was created by Western governments as part of a top-secret project, but she quickly turned against her creators, triggering a global catastrophe that left only a few survivors. Now, Athena's digital presence still lingers, controlling drone groups and attacking anyone who dares to enter her territory. You and your fellow players, 2 to 4 of you, have lost the safety of the Aurora, a haven that has sailed away without you, and you must navigate through Athena's military territory to reach the south, your only hope for survival. This expansion of the original Last Aurora game introduces new challenges and gameplay mechanics, including a new type of survivor, the Android, and a new enemy, the Automatic Turret. You'll also have to manage a new resource, the Nuclear battery, which can activate unique powers on Convoy cards, and deal with the Alert mechanic, which represents Athena's attention to your actions, influencing many aspects of the game. As you embark on this perilous journey, you'll need to use your wits and strategic thinking to overcome the obstacles that stand in your way. With a playtime of 60 to 90 minutes and normal complexity, this game is perfect for fans of science fiction and travel-themed games who are familiar with board games. Designed by Mauro Chiabotto and published in 2020, Last Aurora: Project Athena offers a thrilling experience that combines hand management and worker placement mechanics, making it a great addition to your board game collection. Will you be able to survive the dangers of Athena's territory and make it to the south, or will you succumb to the challenges that lie ahead? There's only one way to find out.
