Description
In the realm of Mysticana, the balance of power is about to get a whole lot more interesting with the Element of Surprise expansion. Designed by Dustin Dobson and Jamie Thul, this 2025 release is a game of strategy and manipulation for 1 to 2 players, where you'll need to back the right faction at the right time to come out on top. With a playtime of just 20 minutes, it's the perfect way to spend a quick gaming session, and the simple rules mean you can dive right in without needing to spend hours learning complex mechanics. The gameplay is all about mastering the delicate dance of three elemental factions, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. You'll need to allocate cards from your hand to build up each faction, then secretly assign cards to the shadows and choose a Herald to represent the faction you're backing. When battle is joined, the player with the highest total value wins, but there's a twist - the value of your chosen faction is multiplied by the lowest matching element card in the shadows, adding an extra layer of unpredictability to each battle. The first player to win three battles takes control of the realm, so you'll need to stay on your toes and adapt your strategy as the game unfolds. As an expansion to the Mysticana: A Foundation Deck, Element of Surprise offers a fresh new way to experience the versatility of this 18-card deck. With its flexible design and "rock-paper-scissors" hierarchy, the Mysticana deck is capable of supporting a wide range of games, and this expansion is just the latest example of what's possible. Whether you're a fan of solo play or head-to-head competition, Element of Surprise has something to offer, so why not give it a try and see what surprises await you in the realm of Mysticana?
