Nocturn is a game that combines two genres - strategy and horror - in a unique and thrilling way. It takes place in the underworld where players take control over one of the nations struggling to survive among the dead realm. The goal is simple: expand your borders and subjugate your opponents, but it's easier said than done. With the ability to establish Houses, grant them lands, and obtain Lords for wars and intrigues, the possibilities are endless. You can choose to play it safe, building strongholds and armies to defend your nation, or take a riskier approach, focusing on conquering other players' cities and strongholds. The game is easy to learn, with simple rules that can be explained quickly, making it accessible to new players. However, mastering it is a different story. Nocturn favors players who can think strategically and come up with creative solutions to the challenges they face. The game is designed for 3 to 5 players, and the playtime can vary from 150 to 240 minutes, depending on the number of players and the campaign rules you choose. With the introduction of Death as a fifth player, the game takes on a whole new level of complexity, as this force will stop at nothing to recapture the lands lost to the living, posing a major threat to all other players. This adds an element of unpredictability to the game, as players must adapt to the evolving world around them and navigate the challenges posed by Death's actions. As you play, you'll have to navigate the constantly changing world, making decisions that will impact your nation's survival. You can choose to play aggressively, focusing on conquest, or take a more subtle approach, using stealth and deception to outmaneuver your opponents. The game is divided into 10 turns, each consisting of three phases: Darkness, Action, and Siege. During these phases, you'll have the opportunity to resurrect your dead Lords, execute actions, and engage in battles to expand your territory. With so many possibilities and variables at play, Nocturn is a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat, challenging you to think strategically and make tough decisions to emerge victorious.
