Description

Imagine yourself standing on a rickety boat, the water beneath you home to all manner of terrifying sea creatures. In Shallow Regrets, you'll embark on a strategic horror fishing adventure, reeling in eldritch anomalies that are worth a small fortune - if you've got the guts to catch them. With simple rules that can be explained quickly, this 15-minute game is perfect for 2 to 4 players looking for a thrilling experience. Designed by Judson Cowan and published in 2025, Shallow Regrets is a card game that combines elements of horror with the thrill of the catch. Each turn, you'll have the chance to reel in two fish from the shoals of your choice, keeping one in your boat if you've got the right hooks to handle its strength value. But be warned: these fish aren't just ordinary creatures - they've got otherworldly abilities that can impact play in unexpected ways. By exhausting a fish, you can unlock its ability, but be careful not to overdo it, or you might find yourself at a disadvantage. And when all the fish have been caught, you'll tally up the total value of your haul, with some fish considered foul and penalizing your score if you've caught too many. As you dive into the world of Shallow Regrets, you'll discover a game that's full of unsettling surprises and strategic depth. With expansions like Lingering Remorse and The Fisher & the Frod available, there's always more to explore in this lean and terrifying horror fishing game. So, grab your rod and get ready to pull up some unsettling curiosities - but don't say we didn't warn you about the strange creatures lurking beneath the water's surface. Shallow Regrets is a game that will leave you wondering what other terrors lie in wait, and eager to dive back in for another thrilling adventure.
