Description

The Flowers of the Forest is a thrilling board game that drops you into the midst of a pivotal battle in history, the Anglo-Scots clash of Flodden in 1513. As one of two players, you'll take on the role of either the invading Scots army under James IV or the Earl of Surrey's force, each with their unique strengths and weaknesses. The game is all about strategy and simulation, with a hexagon grid and dice rolling mechanics that bring the battle to life. You'll need to maneuver your units, made up of bands of men with different abilities, across the map of Flodden hill, using your wits to outmaneuver your opponent. As you play, you'll experience the challenges of controlling large bodies of troops without modern communication, and the independence of Scots nobles will add an extra layer of complexity to your decision-making. The combat system is designed to model the degradation of combat effectiveness as losses and morale reductions take their toll, making for a tense and unpredictable game. With a playtime of 120 minutes, The Flowers of the Forest is a game that will keep you engaged and invested in the outcome, and its normal complexity level makes it accessible to anyone familiar with board games. Whether you're a fan of Renaissance-era history or just love a good wargame, this classic game from 1995 is sure to deliver hours of entertainment and challenge.
