Description

With Fire and Sword is a strategic game that drops you into the midst of the 30 Years War, a brutal dynastic struggle that engulfed Western Europe from 1618 to 1648. As one of two players, you'll take on the role of either the Habsburg forces or the Anti-Habsburg coalition, navigating the complex web of alliances and rivalries that defined this period. The game is designed to be easy to learn, with simple rules that can be explained quickly, but it offers a rich and challenging experience that will keep you engaged for hours. The game map stretches across Eastern France, the Benelux countries, mid-Poland and Hungary, and up to the Baltic Coast, with a scale of 48 kilometers per hex. Each turn represents a year, and you'll need to manage your resources carefully to recruit and maintain your armies, respond to events and challenges, and outmaneuver your opponent. The game features a range of mechanics, including dice rolling, secret unit deployment, and simultaneous action selection, which add a layer of excitement and unpredictability to the game. With three scenarios to choose from, starting in 1618, 1630, or 1636, you can experience the war from different perspectives and explore different strategies. Whether you're a seasoned gamer or just looking for a new challenge, With Fire and Sword offers a unique and captivating experience that will draw you in and keep you coming back for more.
