Description

In Yggdrasil: Asgard, the world of Norse mythology comes alive as you and up to five friends join forces to protect the realm from invading giants. This expansion for the base game Yggdrasil introduces a new twist to the gameplay: the ability for each God to enter a Trance, granting them unique powers that can turn the tide of battle. With twelve double-sided God tiles, featuring six familiar faces and six new additions, you'll have plenty of opportunities to experiment with different strategies and team combinations. When a God enters a Trance, they can't fight or use their usual powers, but they gain access to powerful Trance abilities that benefit all the Gods. For example, you might be able to discard vikings' souls after rolling the die in combat, or automatically remove five Fire giants from the bag of your choice. This adds a new layer of depth to the game, as you'll need to carefully consider when to put a God into a Trance and when to bring them back into the fight. With the ability to flip the God tiles to change their state, it's easy to switch between a God's usual and Trance powers, keeping the gameplay fresh and exciting. With a playtime of 90 minutes, Yggdrasil: Asgard is a substantial addition to the base game, offering a challenging and cooperative experience that's perfect for fans of mythology and strategy. The rules are straightforward, making it easy for anyone familiar with board games to jump in and start playing. Designed by Cédric Lefebvre and Fabrice Rabellino, this 2012 expansion builds on the success of the original game, introducing new mechanics and features that enhance the gameplay without overwhelming new players. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or just starting to explore the world of Yggdrasil, Asgard is a must-play expansion that's sure to delight.
