Add your FLGS

Help us find your FLGS πŸ—ΊοΈ

Help out your friendly local game store, board game cafe or association. Add them to the crowd-sourced map of board gaming communities. This helps people in your area find the place, helps your favorite place stay in business, and helps you find more people to play against. Win-win-win!

We have just opened for the option to add a community listing. Use this if you are not the owner of the place, but would like to share it with your local board game community nonetheless. Creating a listing does the following:
- adds the place to the community map so others can find it
- allows you and others to follow it, so you get notified if the community joins kallax.io
- allows you to use the community as a location when you create a game event

Creating a listing does not make you the owner. The community is instead marked unclaimed and the owner of the venue can choose to claim it if they like.

Besides opening up for crowd-sourcing we also improved the experience of using the map to prepare for the hopefully many listings. You can now search a specific area either using the list view by searching for it, for example 'Copenhagen' or by panning around the map.

The list view now automatically reflects what you saw on the map view, so switching between feels more natural. Previously the map would reset to seeing the entire world and the list view would show all active listing matching the filters.

Add your favorite venue to the map!

BoardGameGeek Auto-Sync πŸ€–

As mentioned in an earlier post, kallax.io now supports importing from your boardgamegeek account automatically. It was great to see so many people toggle it on!

Anyone with a verified boardgamegeek account can enable the feature in settings. The feature is free for everyone and we synchronize the collection on a daily basis.

It's possible that we may have to change how often we synchronize with BoardGameGeek, but for now every 24 hrs fits comfortably within our rate-limits.

Auto mode, which can also apply changes (comments, move from/to wishlist, remove board games) is still being tested but will be made available for everyone soon. Enthusiast accounts can toggle on the beta opt-in in settings to try it out.

Minor changes 🀏

  • Added a 'bring this game' option on What are we playing?
  • Added last synchronized for the BoardGameGeek sync on the settings page
