We’re excited to announce that the beta version of the events feature is finally live! Here is a breakdown of what is included and what is to come.

Basics ✅

Create an event with a name, description, time and place! Descriptions can use **bold** and *italic* text - more advanced markdown is coming.

Created events appear under the events menu tab.

Vote for Games to Play 🗳️

As the creator of an event you can enable a What are we playing? section. This will allow participant to vote for which games they wish to play during the event. The following voting formats are supported:

Flat / Simple Majority
Most votes win. This will often result in ties but is well suited for eliminating games that participants do not want to play.

Borda
A ranked voting system where points are awarded based on the voter rankings in descending order. If participants are given 5 votes, then their first choice is worth 5 points, second choice 4 points, ...

Euro-style
Inspired by Eurovision, this ranked voting system assigns 12 points to the top choice, 10 to the second, then 8 down to 1 for the next eight. This gives favorites a slight benefit.

RSVP 🙋

Send the event link to your friends and let them indicate if they can make it. We're working on adding invitations and notifications in future updates.

Suggest Games 🔍

The host can choose to allow participants to suggest games to play. You can suggest any game on Kallax. The default, if 6 or less participants, is searching for games that plays the amount of participants and appears in any of the participants collections. We are entertaining the idea of allowing people to indicate if they are able/willing to bring games to the event or not.

Friend and Invite Only ✉️

As of now, all events are public and everyone with the link can participate. We are working on a friends only and invite only events.

Upcoming - Hauling List 📦

No more last-minute scrambling—Hauling Lists will make it easy to coordinate who’s bringing what. Participants can add references to games or free text to the list. All participants can see who added what to the list.

We’d love to hear what you think!
