Description

Maori Wars is a game of conflict and strategy, simulating the uprisings that took place between 1845 and 1872 due to British colonial incursions into native Maori lands on the North Island of New Zealand. Players take on the roles of the British and Maori forces, navigating the challenges of guerrilla warfare and territorial control. The game features a unique bush-raiding rule, allowing the Maori player to move units off the map and launch surprise attacks, while the British player must learn to track and counter these tactics. As the game progresses, players must adapt to changing circumstances, including the introduction of new troops, alliances, and events that reflect the historical context of the conflict. With its innovative gameplay mechanics and historical themes, Maori Wars offers a engaging and challenging experience for two players, playable in under two hours.
