Description

Redvers' Reverse: The Battle of Colenso, 1899 is a challenging solo board game that puts you in the shoes of General Sir Redvers Buller as he attempts to cross the Thukela River and relieve the Siege of Ladysmith. The game is designed to recreate the difficulties faced by the British in this historical battle, with the Boer commandos being controlled by the game system. As the player, you'll have to navigate the complexities of area movement, dice rolling, and event management, all while trying to outmaneuver the Boer forces and achieve a successful crossing. The game is designed to be a realistic simulation of the battle, with units activated by orders sent from HQ and combat resolved through a combination of dice rolling and modifiers. The British player must balance the need to act quickly with the risk of taking heavy losses, all while trying to keep the Boer confidence level low. The game is won by successfully crossing the river and relieving the siege, but it won't be easy - the system is designed to win most of the time, making each playthrough a challenging and rewarding experience. With a playtime of 60 to 240 minutes, Redvers' Reverse is a game that will keep you engaged and invested in the outcome, as you try to overcome the obstacles and emerge victorious.
