Description

Ante Portas is a fast-paced 2 player card game that drops you into the midst of Hannibal's campaign against Rome. With simple rules that can be explained quickly, you'll be diving into the action in no time, navigating the challenges of the ancient world. The game is all about using your cards to outmaneuver your enemy, but here's the twist - the two players have different options for using their cards, making each side a unique playing experience. This asymmetry adds a layer of depth to the game, as you'll need to adapt your strategy depending on which side you're playing. As you play, you'll be using cards that have both Roman and Carthaginian parts, but you can only use one part at a time - and then the card gets passed to your opponent. This means you'll need to think carefully about how to use each card, whether as an event, an army, or something else entirely. The Carthaginians will be focused on marching their army into position, while the Romans will be working to keep their empire together through morale and money. With only 20 event cards in the game, things move quickly, but there's still plenty of room for deeper strategy and tactics to emerge. Games can last anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes, making Ante Portas a great option for a quick but intense gaming session.
