Description

Get ready to dive into the darkly comedic world of Artistes Misérables, a humorous card game where you'll take on the role of a 19th century artist trying to create masterworks while succumbing to poverty, infirmity, and despair. With simple rules that can be explained quickly, 3 to 6 players can join in on the fun, which lasts around 20 to 40 minutes. Designed by Greg Porter and published in 2022, this game is all about embracing your miserable side, with colored tokens representing your muses - Poverty, Infirmity, and Despair - which not only contribute to your score but also serve as a threshold for creating certain paintings. On each turn, you can choose from a range of actions, from drawing tokens or cards to playing actions on other players or painting masterpieces. The game is full of dark humor, from reveling in despair to glorying in poverty. The goal is to accumulate misery while producing high-quality paintings, all before meeting your untimely demise. The game ends in a sudden death, either when a player's misery becomes too much to bear or when the deck runs out, at which point all players are drafted into World War 1 and meet a grisly end. With its unique blend of card drafting, set collection, and sudden death mechanics, Artistes Misérables is a hilarious and entertaining game that's sure to bring laughter and excitement to the table.
