Description

In the frozen world of Arktia, players are tasked with building and navigating their own research stations, all while trying to outmaneuver their opponents. This abstract strategy game, designed by Stefan Kögl, is set on a modular board composed of hexagonal tiles, which can change and shift as the game progresses. With a playtime of just 15 minutes, Arktia is a quick and thrilling experience that's perfect for 2 to 4 players. The rules are easy to learn, making it accessible to gamers of all skill levels. As players build and move their residential and research modules, known as Muglus, they must be careful not to get cut off from their main settlement, or risk losing them to the harsh environment. The threat of global warming also looms, causing ground tiles to "melt" and disappear, adding an extra layer of challenge and unpredictability to the game. With its unique blend of area majority, area movement, and network building mechanics, Arktia offers a fun and strategic experience that's out of this world. First published in 2008, this science fiction-themed game has been captivating players for years, and its short playtime makes it easy to fit in a game or two, whether you're playing in person or online through platforms like Yucata.
