Description
In Yakatabune, you and another player are rival pyrotechnicians competing to prove your mastery in the summer's most anticipated fireworks festival. The goal is to place fireworks cards on your side of the river to complete your program cards while earning the applause of each houseboat, or yakatabune, by having a majority in that column. With simple rules that can be explained quickly, this area-majority puzzle game is easy to learn and fun to play. As you take turns playing fireworks cards and using their effects to swap, shift, or flip cards, you'll need to think strategically to outmaneuver your opponent and capture the awe of the viewers on each houseboat. With a playtime of just 30 to 40 minutes, Yakatabune is a quick and engaging game that's perfect for a fun evening with a friend. Designed by Masaki Suga and published in 2020, this card game combines pattern recognition and area majority mechanics to create a unique and challenging experience. As you compete to earn the most applause tokens, you'll need to balance completing your program cards with blocking your opponent's moves, making for a thrilling and unpredictable game.
