Description
Diatoms is a fascinating puzzle game where you get to create your own microscopic mosaic, inspired by an obscure Victorian art form. As a player, you're part of the Society for the Microscopic Arts, tasked with collecting and arranging tiny diatom shapes into beautiful patterns. These diatoms, found in water all around us, have exquisite geometric shapes and patterns, and it's up to you to strategically place them on your personal board to earn the highest score. With easy-to-learn rules, Diatoms is accessible to players of all skill levels, and its short playtime of 30 to 45 minutes makes it perfect for a quick game night with friends or a solo adventure. In Diatoms, you'll compete with up to three other players to create the most stunning mosaic, or you can play solo and try to fulfill specific requirements from mosaic commission prompts. The game's tile placement and pattern building mechanics make it a fun and challenging experience, as you aim to achieve matching colors, shape variety, and symmetry in your arrangement. With the added twist of "guest" judge cards, each game is unique and requires you to think strategically about your placement. Designed by Sabrina Culyba and published in 2025, Diatoms is a great addition to any board game collection, offering a unique and engaging experience for players of all ages.
