Set Europe Ablaze: The Resistance War 1939-1945 is a game that captures the spirit and complex choices involved in Occupied Western Europe during World War II. Designed by award-winning game designer John Prados, this card-driven game pits the Occupying Axis forces against the combination of Allied intelligence efforts and brave local citizens, fighting the shadow war that made the Maquis a name to remember proudly. The game focuses on political-economic strategy, where the Axis player wants to extract as much raw materials and finished goods as possible, while the Allied player seeks to avert this through sabotage, interdiction, and intelligence gathering. As players take on the roles of the Axis and Allied forces, they will engage in a game of cat and mouse, with the Allies using infiltration and special units like the SAS and OSS, while the Axis responds with partisan sweeps, counterintelligence operations, and labor pool mobilization.
