Description

In the romantic nights of Kyoto, gentlemen of the Imperial court would sneak out to meet their secret lovers, crafting the finest poetry to win their hearts. In Genji, you take on the role of one of these courtiers, competing to write the most beautiful poems and woo the ladies of the court. With easy-to-learn rules, you'll be immersed in the world of 11th century Japan, navigating the complexities of love and poetry. As you move around the modular board, you'll have the chance to study new material, woo the ladies, and even challenge your rivals' poems to prove your superiority. As you play, you'll need to manage your hand of poetry cards, collecting sets and creating the most beautiful poems to impress the ladies. With 12 ladies to woo, each with their own symbol and fashion, you'll need to stay on top of the latest trends to succeed. The game is won by scoring points for the most poems on the board, the most beautiful poem, or even by being a scoundrel and stealing another player's heart. With 2 to 6 players and a playtime of just 45 minutes, Genji is the perfect game for anyone looking for a fun and romantic evening of poetry and strategy. So take your brush in hand, and set out on the night streets of Kyoto to see if you have what it takes to become the greatest lover of the Imperial court.
